When visiting a hospital, you may be tempted to see your primary doctor first as they act as your advocate and guide in the healthcare system. However, some health complications require a patient to seek Houston Medical ER treatments. The emergency room deals with medical emergencies which put a patient at risk. For instance, you will find yourself in the ER if brought by an ambulance to the medical facility. However, do you know the medical conditions which make a patient seek ER treatments? You may seek ER treatments for these health conditions.

    Chest Pain

You should seek urgent care if you have severe chest pain, which indicates serious complications such as strokes or respiratory problems. The chest pains might be a sign of strokes, and you would see a vascular doctor to overcome stroke, as stroke might be deadly and could result in permit disability. Additionally, you may seek treatments for respiratory issues if the chest pains are accompanied by an inability to breathe well or reduced lung capacity. Chest pains, sore throat, and fever might indicate serious respiratory issues like COVID-19.

    Deep Cuts and Excessive Bleeding

Deep cuts might result in excessive bleeding, leading to a lack of blood supply to vital organs like the brain. The lack of adequate blood supply to the brain reduces the oxygen and nutrient supply leading to the death of some brain cells. Unfortunately, you would have serious issues like disability and organ failure if the brain lacks oxygen, which in serious cases leads to death.

Additionally, deep wounds might require deep stitches to seal off the wounds and stop blood flow. A deep wound might result in a permanent sore which doesn’t heal over a long time. Additionally, it may impact movement if it is located in the limbs.

    Dizziness and Confusion

Dizziness and confusion indicate serious mental health problems which require instant attention. For instance, dizziness may occur if you hit your head with a blunt object leading to brain nerve damage. On the other hand, confusion may occur due to a serious mental issue such as memory loss. Thus, you should let your loved one seek emergency treatment if they feel dizzy or confused.

    Severe Allergic Reaction

An allergic reaction might be treatable, especially if it is not severe. You can manage the allergic reaction to dust, pollen, or cold with an antihistamine. However, severe reactions to animal protein or nuts might be life-threatening as it results in swellings, soreness, and inflammation, which don’t improve with ordinary medications. Thus, an ER doctor will deal with severe reactions using innovative interventions.

    Throwing Up and Loose Stool

Throwing up and loose stool might indicate food poisoning, and you should see an ER doctor immediately. The ER doctor might suck out the food in the stomach and offer IV drip treatments to keep the patient hydrated and stable.

    Conclusion

Most patients might not know when to seek ER treatments and will walk into a primary caregiver’s office anytime they are sick. Fortunately, the primary doctor will assess the medical condition and refer to ER treatment. For instance, you should seek ER treatment for chest pains as they indicate a looming stroke or serious respiratory issue. The ER doctor will deal with deep wounds, excessive bleeding, loose stool and throwing up, severe allergic reaction, and dizziness accompanied by confusion.
