How to Avoid Hair Loss After Pregnancy

Many women experience dehydration, tiredness, stress, and a reduction in hormone levels as their bodies cope with life after pregnancy. These causes may contribute to excessive hair loss. Some of this hair loss is frequently associated with the stress and exhaustion of childbirth. This transient condition should heal within a year after the pregnancy’s termination. You may minimize hair loss after pregnancy by taking prenatal vitamins, maintaining a balanced diet, and avoiding tight hairstyles that pull hair away from the scalp. Dr. Paul M Pearce advises using lightweight shampoos and conditioners, and seeing a hairdresser makes the hair loss less visible until your hair shedding slows down.

The procedure for laser hair removal

Laser hair removal employs a technique called selective photothermolysis. Laser heat kills cells with a lot of pigment (color). Dark hair absorbs the greatest heat because of its high pigment composition. Hair transmits heat to the hair follicles, damaging them and inhibiting hair growth. A hair follicle must be in its anagen, or growth, stage for the technique to operate. Because follicles grow at various rates, most people require numerous laser treatments.

    Preparing for laser hair removal

Avoid tanning beds and keep out of the sun as much as possible in the weeks following your surgery. Tanned skin, whether natural or artificial, can reduce the effectiveness of laser hair removal and cause adverse effects. Shave the treatment region two to three days before the treatment. Laser hair removal procedures will not work on hairs longer than a grain of rice. Additionally, avoid waxing, tweezing, and plucking hair in the treated areas once treatment begins.

Is hair loss caused by stress permanent?

Stress-related hair loss can eventually be reversed. Everyone’s rate of regrowth will be distinct. Human hair growth happens in four stages. The ordinary human scalp contains approximately 100,000 hair follicles. At any one time, each of your hair follicles is at a different stage of the cycle:

    1. Anagen period: This is the phase of hair growth. It lasts from two to seven years.
    2. Catagen period: This is a two-week period in which the hair follicle begins to shrink.
    3. Telogen period:  This is a three-month relaxation period.
    4. Exogenous period: This is the stage at which the follicle loses the hair and initiates new growth.

If stress has caused your hair loss, reducing your stress may be the key to resuming a healthy pace of hair growth.

Laser hair removal is a safe and logical method of removing unsightly body hair. Laser heat eliminates hair and damages hair follicles. It is not permanent, but the results are more long-lasting than plucking, tweezing, or waxing. The majority of patients require repeated treatments. A qualified healthcare practitioner should only perform this operation. Burning, scarring, and permanent skin discoloration are all possible adverse effects.

The sooner you manage hair loss symptoms, the greater your chances of preventing serious damage. Speak with a medical specialist to get started on your path to a fuller head of hair. Call Texas Hair Restoration Center to schedule your appointment today to learn more about laser hair therapy.
